A pioneering scheme to regenerate a city and create 30,000 jobs has been
unveiled.

Officials in Sheffield want to build a new business district and a so-called
"digital square mile" targeted at creative industries.

The proposals from development company Creative Sheffield also aim to
encourage large companies to migrate to the region.

The group also wants to forge closer links with Leeds and Manchester and
attract more jobs to the area, with an associated increase in workers
looking for homes.

Investors may also see an upturn in commercial property prices as companies
look to take advantage of the project.

Chief executive Ian Bromley said: "This is the most authoritative business
plan any UK city has seen.

"Sheffield had the highest level of employment growth of all UK core cities
during the 10 years to 2005, with 73,000 new jobs, which shows we have the
track record to deliver on our ambitions."
